In her first release of new music since her critically acclaimed debut collection of songs 'Nyaaringu', Miiesha says writing 'Damaged' “came naturally”, but sharing it was a different story.
“The difficult part is always sharing it and whether I let people know what it's about,” she said. She says she hopes that by sharing the song’s message that it will bring strength to others going through similar adversity.
“It's about the broken relationship I have with my mother, and how much I have wanted it to heal, and how much I have tried to fix it, only to find myself hurting more," she said.
“For me, music has always been about healing, and this is definitely something I've needed to heal from.
“There's more strength in our stories when we share them.”The song was produced by 6LACK collaborator LUCIANBLOMKAMP and the music video, directed by Joey Hunter, stars members of Miiesha’s family.
