Curtains will open at the Sydney Film Festival this year to new 'outback noir', Goldstone.

The beautifully shot film is the sequel to 2013’s Mystery Road and stars Aaron Pedersen in the lead role as returning Indigenous detective, Jay Swan.

Shot in Middleton, Queensland, the plot will follow Pedersen’s character as the missing persons enquiry that brings him to the town of Goldstone quickly turns into a much deeper investigation into local crime and corruption.
The suspense thriller is directed by Indigenous film-maker Ivan Sen with a budget of $2 million, and features a standout Australian cast.

Iconic actor David Gulpilil, Jacki Weaver, David Wenham, Michelle Lim Davidson and League Nation Live's own Aaron Fa’Aoso join Chinese actress Cheng Pei-pei in the film which is set to be released later this year.

Like Mystery Road before it, Goldstone will make its debut in front of cinema critiques and connoisseurs at the Sydney Film Festival’s opening night gala on June 8.

In the meantime you can get a glimpse of what’s on offer with their teaser trailer, or these behind the scenes set photos.

Goldstone is a Bunya Productions film created in association with Screen Queensland and Screen Australia.
