Survivors of child sacrifice at the hands of witch doctors in Uganda
Published 26 August 2024, 8:27 am
Witchcraft has long been practiced throughout Uganda. A country where the ancient and the modern meet, many in rural areas continue the mystical beliefs of their ancestors, while in cities there's rapid economic development. But from this cultural clash a gruesome phenomenon is growing, and Uganda's children are paying the price. Children are disappearing; victims of human sacrifice at the hands of so-called 'witch doctors'. It's estimated at least two children go missing each week, often kidnapped for so-called ritualistic sacrifice. Advocates say the spike has been attributed to poverty, poor policing of witch doctors, and up to 80% of the population seeking health advice from traditional healers. A warning to viewers, this story is distressing.
