Here’s the problem with Putin’s ICC arrest warrant for war crimes in Ukraine

On 17 March, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova, Commissioner of the Russian President's Office for Children’s Rights, for war crimes in Ukraine. These warrants are centred around Russia's deportation of children from Ukrainian territories occupied by Russian troops. Putin and Lvova-Belova have overseen the unlawful deportation of more than 16,000 Ukrainian children to Russia according to a UN investigation. Russia does this out in the open and says it’s part of a humanitarian campaign to protect orphans and children abandoned in the conflict zone. However, Ukraine says these actions amount to an act of genocide.
