Government gas strategy aims to prevent energy supply shortfalls

The gas industry will stay a key part of the nation's energy mix for decades to come, with the federal government endorsing continued exploration, investment and development beyond 2050. The new gas strategy warns that Australia risks gas shortages within four years, and needs to safeguard supply. The industry is celebrating, but environmental groups say it is a betrayal. The Greens are threatening to derail the parliamentary agenda over the policy.
