...of Donald Trump's term as the 47th president of the United States are clear.
Outside his inauguration at the US Capitol rotunda in Washington, both political camps gathered in icy conditions.
Some in relief...
"It's a really, really hard economy that we're living in right now and I can't take it anymore. I'm so happy that Trump won. I'm unbelievably happy. That's why I'm here today."
...and others in despair.
"Because America, in its desperation to maintain itself, is how do we say? The American empire is falling. This is not a homogeneous nation, it's a racist nation and they try to maintain that system of inequity."
The rest of the globe is seemingly less divided – with world leaders unanimously urging good relations with the mercurial leader.
Russian President Vladimir Putin was among the first to publicly congratulate Mr Trump, saying he welcomed plans to improve relations between the two countries.
"We see the statements of the newly elected US President and the members of his team about their desire to restore direct contacts with Russia, which were halted through no fault of ours by the outgoing administration. We also hear his statements about the need to do everything to prevent World War III. We certainly welcome such an approach."
Similar comments delivered by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy – with the fate of the Russia-Ukraine war now in Trump's hands.
"The inauguration of the new President of the United States Donald Trump. He is a strong person. I wish President Trump and all of America success. Ukrainians are ready to work with Americans to achieve peace - true peace. This is an opportunity that must be seized."
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer congratulated Mr Trump from across the Atlantic, speaking of an enduring partnership.
"For centuries, the relationship between our two nations has been one of collaboration, cooperation and enduring partnership. It is a uniquely close bond. Together, we have defended the world from tyranny and worked towards our mutual security and prosperity. With President Trump's long standing affection and historical ties to the United Kingdom, I know that depth of friendship will continue."
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola also hailing a historic alliance.
"The bond between Europe and the United States has been a cornerstone of peace, security and prosperity for decades. It will not be without its challenges but I know that Europe will be ready to work for a positive outcome for all. Today, the geopolitical realities that we all face will require a renewed transatlantic alliance guided by our shared values."
And, less than a day after the news of a long-awaited ceasefire in Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Mr Trump's efforts in helping free Israeli hostages.
"I look forward to working with you to return the remaining hostages to destroy Hamas's military capabilities and end its political rule in Gaza and to ensure that Gaza never again poses a threat to Israel. I'm sure, Mr. President, that under your leadership, the best days of our lives are yet to come"
Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri also proposing a way forward, writing: "Trump can build his policies on balanced foundations that can cut the road against Netanyahu's evils", adding "We are happy with the departure of Biden, who has the blood of Palestinians on his hand."
The entire world united by the uncertain future that awaits them.
