The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres says the Security Council's approval of a resolution endorsing a plan to end the eight-month war between Israel and Hamas should produce a ceasefire.

The United States-sponsored resolution supports a ceasefire proposal from President Joe Biden.

The resolution’s text says Israel has accepted Mr Biden’s May 31 ceasefire proposal and “calls upon Hamas to also accept it”.

A senior Hamas official has said the group accepts the resolution and is ready to negotiate details.

A teenager has been arrested and released pending further inquiries in a case involving AI-generated obscene images of schoolgirls.

The incident has affected up to 50 students from years nine to 12 at Bacchus Marsh Grammar located in Melbourne's east .

The images were created by superimposing the girls' faces, taken from social media, onto inappropriate photos.

Principal Andrew Neil says the incident is appalling and does not reflect the school's culture.

Queensland Nationals Senator Matt Canavan told the Nine Network what happened represents a broader cultural problem.

"I think it is a cultural issue across our society that for whatever reason, the standards of behaviour are not being taught to young boys. We see it too often. Look, I wish I had the answers - I don't - but I don't necessarily think it's something a government or a law can change."

With tax-season approaching, the Australian Taxation Office is urging caution due to a high number of scammers targeting Australians for their personal information.

New data from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia suggests 24 per cent of Australians have already been targeted with a tax-related scam with 31 per cent of those surveyed unable to identify all forms the scams can come in.

Scammers often impersonate government agencies using robocalls, SMS messages and emails to lure Australians into giving personal details or financial information.
