  • The AFLW's grand final to be a rematch between the Lions and Kangaroos.
The bodies of two people have been discovered in Western Sydney today, in a shop in Cambridge Park, near Penrith.

They have not been formally identified but are believed to be a man and woman aged in their 60s.

Detective Assistant Superintendent Michael Cantrell from Nepean Area Command says they have not yet identified any suspects - but there is video footage showing a person in the vicinity.

"I'm aware that there is footage and it's been on social media. And we are looking into that and looking at all lines of inquiry... It shows a male in the vicinity. The time is yet to be confirmed but it's certainly a line of inquiry at this point."

Firefighters have gained the upper hand in their battle against bushfires along parts of Western Australia's coastline - but residents are not yet cleared to return home.

They say conditions have eased in the Shire of Dandaragan, about 200 kilometres north of Perth, after a fire sparked by a fatal car crash burned through more than 70,000 hectares.

But Department of Fire and Emergency Services superintendent Damien Pumphrey has urged residents to continue monitoring conditions and emergency alerts at a community briefing.

Justin Trudeau is visiting Donald Trump's Florida resort days after the US president-elect threatened to slap tariffs on Canadian imports over border-related concerns.

The Canadian Prime Minister's public itinerary did not list a scheduled visit to Florida, but there are reports he was seen leaving a hotel in West Palm Beach, Florida, to go to Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate.

Mr Trump announced during the week that he will be introducing a 25 per cent tariff on all products imported into his country from Canada and Mexico.

Trudeau has pledged to oppose the tariff threat.

"We're working with all the premiers pulling together in a Team Canada approach because that's how we defend Canadian jobs from coast to coast to coast."

Police and protesters have brutally clashed in Georgia after the country's ruling party suspended negotiations to join the European Union until 2028.

At least 43 people have been detained, with police using water cannons and tear gas to break apart the crowds gathered in the heart of the nation's capital, Tbilisi.

The government's announcement that it was suspending negotiations came hours after the European Parliament adopted a resolution that condemned last month's Georgia election as neither free nor fair - but which was also widely seen as a referendum on the country's E-U aspirations.

Unity National Movement Coalition leader Giorghi Vashadze has urged the ruling party to listen to the will of the people.

"We are not only fighting against Georgian Dream; we are fighting against Russia, we are fighting against Russian influence in this country. An enormous amount of resources, money, and everything is now being enacted. That is why I do ask all leaders of the democratic world to support the Georgian people. Sanctions, actions, funding—everything needs to be done. That's very important."

The government has confirmed it's pouring millions of dollars into fraud detection in the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

It's pushed through $110 million in funding into a program called Crack Down on Fraud, which already received almost $84 million earlier this year to help officials prevent and detect the exploitation of the NDIS.

Retiring NDIS Minister Bill Shorten says that the program has already identified more than 2100 providers with "problematic claiming behaviours" since launching in February this year.

Those providers are now required to have a manual review for every claim - instead of being automatically paid.

Only a few hours remain until this season's A-F-L Women's Grand Final between North Melbourne and the Brisbane Lions at Princes Park.

Current champions the Lions are hoping to retain their title, while their opponents are seeking their first-ever trophy in the competition.

Brisbane will be betting on their experience, having already played in five finals, winning two and losing three.

North Melbourne coach Darren Crocker says his team is fully prepared for the game after coming through the regular season undefeated.

"I think the biggest change for us is just the calmness within the group. Throughout the season I think we've given ourselves enough evidence to know that we rightfully should be back here, on this stage. And we're in really good shape for what's to come."
