Four Seasons Total Landscaping, the business the Trump campaign appeared to have accidentally booked instead of the Four Seasons Hotel, continues to capitalise on their fame with merchandise and memes.
The car park attached to the business, which is located between an adult bookstore and a cremation centre, was booked for a press conference on the weekend after the election. Donald Trump sent out several Tweets, first announcing the press conference at ‘Four Seasons’ then with the extra information ‘Four Seasons Total Landscaping.’
It was in the car park of the business where Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani addressed the media in the press conference, telling journalists the incumbent president would not be conceding the election.
The incident went viral.
As a result, Four Seasons Total Landscaping have been capitalising on the incident, embracing the controversy of the fallout from the election and cashing in by making political merchandise. Weeks after, they continue to ride the wave of their new-found infamy, the women-owned small business has sold out of merchandise — a range of t-shirts, mugs and hats. Despite being the venue choice for the Trump campaign, some of the merch was emblazoned with political puns ridiculing parts of the event, including “MAKE AMERICA RAKE AGAIN” and “LAWN AND ORDER!”
The business has gained a large following on social media, with what appears to be the help of a social media engagement expert. Their Instagram following has gone from 277 followers to more than 25,000 in the weeks since the election.
Their Instagram is now teaming with memes referencing the press conference, the Trump administration and the business’ newfound fame.
They even photoshopped the famous V-J Day in Times Square photo from Times Square to fit in the parking lot.
A week after the election the company released a photo sized to use as a Zoom background.
Four Seasons Total Landscaping has also offered their car park as the location for the Presidential Library and Museum, which was first suggested by late-night host James Corden: “I cannot imagine a better location for the future Donald Trump Presidential Library."
Fans of the business have also contributed to their ongoing attention. A local marathon runner and podcast host Jeff Lyons and his friend Gerard Pescatore came up with the idea to organise a fun run between Four Seasons Total Landscaping and the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia, in an event called the ‘Fraud Street Run.’
Due to the popularity of the fun-run, the event has been forced to go ‘virtual’ with participants running their own 11-mile route in the name of the ‘Fraud Street Run.’
There is a petition on calling for the Four Seasons Total Landscaping car park to be added to the National Register of Historic Places, an official list of the US’ historic places deemed worthy of preservation.
