"Girls Matter!" writes 8-year-old Annie Rose Goldman in her scathing letter to Hasbro, who left Star Wars: The Force Awakens main character Rey out of the Monopoly game based on the film.
"How could you leave out Rey!? She belongs in Star Wars Monopoly and all other Star Wars games!"
Annie Rose's letter (penned in rainbow markers) started the #WheresRey movement online, as thousands of fans realised their favourite character from the film had been left out of many Star Wars toy sets in favour of male characters from the film.
The tweet of Anne Rose's letter was shared thousands of Star Wars fans, young and old, who were outraged by Rey's absence, which Hasbro brushed off as a potential spoiler.
Despite initially defending their decision to exclude Rey, Hasbro tweeted to Annie Roses' mother Carrie Goldman on January 6 that Rey will now be included in the game.
The importance of Rey's character in the film is summed up by Annie Rose [spoilers ahead].
"Without her, THERE IS NO FORCE AWAKENS!"
"It awakens in her!
"And without her, the bad guys would have won!"
It appears Hasbro did not anticipate the force of social media.
