Hawthorn ruck-forward Ty Vickery has returned to training and will play again this weekend for VFL affiliates Box Hill.
Vickery and former Richmond teammate Jake King were arrested on Wednesday as part of an extortion investigation.
The Hawks recruit was released without charge, pending further police investigation, and was back at training with the club on Thursday.
King, whose AFL career ended three years, was charged with six offences and released on bail.
Box Hill named Vickery at full forward for Sunday's home game against Williamstown.
Vickery most recently played at senior level in round 11, but kicked three goals last weekend in the VFL.
He has played just six AFL matches this season after joining the Hawks from Richmond.
Richmond's Damien Hardwick coached Vickery and King when they were with the Tigers.
"Those two guys have fought their backsides off for me and, from what I know of them and their character, it's certainly out of character for those guys," he told reporters on Thursday.
Hardwick says he still stays in touch with Vickery and King occasionally.
"Across the year, me and Kingy keep in touch every now and then. And Ty, (I) send a text, wish him the best and happy birthday, those sorts of things," he said.
Fairfax reported on Thursday afternoon that Vickery is set to take legal action against a former business partner over an alleged six-figure debt.
That debt is said to be at the heart of the extortion claims.
Vickery has played 125 AFL matches since the No.8 draft pick made his debut with Richmond in 2009.
