Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and US President Donald Trump are reportedly set to meet in New York in May to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea.
Fairfax Media has reported that the meeting would take place on board a battleship in New York Harbour and would underline the solidarity of the ANZUS treaty.
Federal government advisors, however, are reportedly split on the timing of the trip. The battle ran from May 4-8, and the federal budget is due to be handed down on Tuesday May 9.
Relationships between the two allies were rocked earlier this month when details of a heated call between Mr Trump and Mr Turnbull were made public.
