Third group of refugees leave Manus for US

A third group of men from Manus Island are bound for the United States, bringing the number of refugees resettled from Australian offshore detention to 134.

A group of 18 refugees are on their way from Manus Island to the United States where they will be resettled.

Those in the third group to leave Papua New Guinea are all single Afghanis, Pakistanis and stateless Rohingya refugees.

Some 85 refugees have now been accepted to the US from Manus Island, and another 49 from Nauru, in a resettlement deal expected to offer up to 1250 places.
