A bushfire emergency warning has been issued for parts of the city of Rockingham southwest of Perth.

"You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes," the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) said in its warning on Monday evening.
The warning is for eastern parts of Baldivis in Rockingham for people in the vicinity of Karnup Road, Young Road and the Kwinana Freeway southbound.

DFES advised residents to leave for a safer place if the way was clear.

"If you cannot leave, you need to get ready to shelter in your home."

The bushfire was moving fast in a northeasterly direction with embers likely to be blown around homes. Around 50 firefighters were battling the blaze with aerial support.
