German Telekom mobile phone network fixed

Database problems that crippled the German mobile phone network of Deutsche Telekom have been solved, the company says.

The mobile telecommunication network of German provider Deutsche Telekom has been fully restored after a country-wide disruption caused by a problem in the central database, the company says.

Customers could make calls and surf the internet again as normal, a spokesman said.

The company said the problem, which originated in the registration database early on Saturday and affected service across Germany, lasted until 10.15am.

Emergency calls and landline systems functioned normally throughout the disturbance.

If a mobile phone continued to have problems, the company recommended switching over to flight mode briefly, or turning the phone off and on again.
