Premier Daniel Andrews has warned Victoria's coronavirus case numbers will "explode" if the state opens up too soon, as the state charts its path out of lockdown.
Victoria has recorded 113 new coronavirus cases and 15 deaths over the last 24 hours, continuing an encouraging trend of stabilising numbers.
Today's deaths include four males and three females in their 80s, and two males and six females in their 90s. All but one are linked to aged care outbreaks.
There are 361 Victorians currently in hospital, 20 of whom are receiving intensive care, with 15 on ventilators.
There are 34 active cases in disability facility settings, including 22 staff members and 12 residents.
It comes after the state recorded 90 new infections on Wednesday and six deaths.
Premier Daniel Andrews has indicated he will on Sunday reveal his plans for the state's roadmap out of lockdown.
Mr Andrews stressed the path out of lockdown must be done in a "safe and steady way".
"I know everyone wants to open up tomorrow. But if we were to do that, these numbers would explode and we would have a couple of weeks of sunshine and we would be back most likely in an even worse position than we were in a few weeks ago," he told reporters on Thursday.
"I know it's frustrating. I know it's difficult. We absolutely understand that. But at the same time, my sense is that Victorians who have given so much want what they have given to count for something."
Legislation was passed early on Wednesday morning to extend Victoria's state of emergency by six months, down from the 12 months previously sought by Mr Andrews.
The current state of emergency, which allows police and health authorities additional powers to enforce the public health order, is set to expire on 13 September.
Metropolitan Melbourne residents are subject to Stage 4 restrictions and must comply with a curfew between the hours of 8pm and 5am. During the curfew, people in Melbourne can only leave their house for work, and essential health, care or safety reasons.
Between 5am and 8pm, people in Melbourne can leave the home for exercise, to shop for necessary goods and services, for work, for health care, or to care for a sick or elderly relative. All Victorians must wear a face covering when they leave home, no matter where they live.
People in Australia must stay at least 1.5 metres away from others. Check your state’s restrictions on gathering limits.
