A Chinese man has been charged with importing two child-like sex dolls into Melbourne.
Customs officers intercepted one of the silicon dolls in an air cargo consignment from China on June 18, before seizing another - along with electronic devices - during a raid on a Toorak property last week.
The 20-year-old faced court on July 26 charged with two counts of importing prohibited goods, and is due to make a second appearance in November.
Australian Border Force commander Graeme Grosse said tackling child exploitation was a priority for officers determined to protect the community.
"We are committed to stopping the movement of these products across the border," Commander Grosse said.
"The importation of child-like sex dolls and other child exploitation material is of significant concern to the ABF, and we are committed to pursuing those attempting to import such items."
The man could face up to 10 years in prison for each offence if found guilty of the crimes.
