Former Turnbull government minister Matt Canavan says he might quit politics if the High Court finds him disqualified to sit in parliament.
Senator Canavan is one of seven members facing a High Court test of their eligibility starting on Tuesday.
He told Nine News on Monday he was confident the court, which will examine his dual Italian citizenship, would come down in his favour.
But if it ruled against him he could walk away from his political career.
"I've told the boss, my wife, if the worst outcome happens she is the boss and we'll work out what we do when and if that happened," the Queensland senator said.
"I'd love to continue doing it but I've always said that my job as a father is much more important than my job as a senator, I've got five kids, so we'll just see what happens next for me, if that happened."
