Human Rights Watch has released a report to mark 50 years since the Six-Day War, during which Israel captured the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.
In that time, the group says, Israel has maintained control over the territories through repression, institutionalised discrimination and systematic rights abuses, in violation of international law.
It says Israel's policies exceed security needs, which Israel cites as the reason for the military measures.
Spokesman Omar Shakir is speaking to Kristina Kukolja about the rights group's main concerns.
