Skiers and snowboarders are rejoicing with snowfalls and blizzards leading to Australian snowfields opening early this season.
Perisher, south of Canberra in the Snowy Mountains, will open on Friday about a week earlier than expected.
The area has had multiple days of blizzard-like conditions this week, with 75cm of early snowfall.
Selwyn Snow Resort opened for business on Thursday, becoming the first in Australia to do so this season.
The Snowy Mountains based resort is offering free skiing and snowboarding until Sunday to celebrate the milestone.
But not all skifields are following suit, with Thredbo planning to open over the June long weekend.
Quizzed on Facebook as to whether it would open early, Thredbo told a keen punter it would open on 8 June with a "massive party weekend".
More snow is expected in the region on Friday, with multiple snowfalls forecast throughout next week.
Victoria's Hotham Alpine Resort has had a week of snow and is set to open for the season on Friday, 7 June.
