Russian officials say Ukraine has struck the Moscow region in one of its biggest drone attacks, killing at least one person and injuring three others.
The background: Russian officials say their air defences destroyed 144 drones in the attack, which damaged at least two high-rise apartment buildings in the Ramenskoye district of the Moscow region, setting flats on fire.
Kyiv said Russia had attacked it overnight with 46 drones, of which 38 were destroyed. Ukraine did not immediately comment on the Moscow drone attack.
Russia and Ukraine have been at war since February 2022.
The key quote: "I looked at the window and saw a ball of fire. The window got blown out by the shockwave." - Alexander Li, resident of Ramenskoye district.
What else to know: In early September, Ukraine launched drone attacks targeting Russia's energy and power facilities.
Russia has hit Ukraine with thousands of missiles and drones throughout the war, killing thousands of civilians, wrecking much of the country's energy system and damaging properties across the country.
