The portrait of defence lawyer and Sudanese refugee Deng Adut has taken out this year's Archibald Prize People's Choice award.
Sydney-based artist Nick Stathopoulos was at the Art Gallery of NSW on Wednesday for the accolade which comes with a $3500 cash prize.
"I am delighted they chose my portrait of Deng, it is a great affirmation so thank you for everyone who voted," Stathopoulos said.![Nick Stathopoulos Deng acrylic and oils on linen 137.5 x 137 cm](https://images.sbs.com.au/drupal/news/public/stathopoulos_sid61293_2560px.jpg?imwidth=1280)
