Highlights
  • Route of special flight changes days before departure
  • Special flight will be operated by SriLankan Airlines
  • Some passengers are not happy with the change in route from Karachi to Lahore
SriLankan Airlines will operate this special flight and the ticket will cost between $1700-$1750 per passenger.

Those who wish to travel on this flight are being asked to  their details with Pakistan High Commission as soon as possible.

People who already registered with the High Commission earlier this week are now being contacted by the airlines directly to book the ticket.
Some people have expressed concerns on the change of route as the previous repatriation flight earlier this year also went to Lahore.

Nassim Ahmad who had missed two flights and cancelled one in the hope of going to Karachi on this flight expressed his frustration on social media.

“First you [High Commission] had informed us that flight is from Sydney to Karachi and lastly decided it is Lahore, I had missed two flights and cancelled one flight just in this hope and assurance that you will arrange a flight for Karachi, it seems Punjab always dominates…Can you please suggest how we stranded people go to Karachi now?” said Mr Ahmad.
Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan, Canberra Muhammad Tariq Wazir said on social media that “We tried level best for Karachi and even Lahore-Karachi both... technical issues remained a hurdle ... So Lahore it is.”
It is unclear what technical issues caused the route change.

SBS Urdu has reached out to the Pakistan High Commissions office and are waiting to hear back.
