In New South Wales, asbestos has been found in schools, hospitals, and parks, prompting increased testing by the government.


Known as 'raatinara' in Telugu, asbestos is a strong insulator that can withstand high temperatures. Despite being widely used in construction for many years, workers exposed to asbestos during their jobs face serious health risks, including cancer. Due to these dangers, many countries have banned its use in construction. Dr. Krishna Nadimpalli, with a Ph.D. in Geology from Andhra University and over 20 years of experience as a scientist in Australia, explains the risks associated with asbestos in this podcast.
