The World Tamil Research Conference stands as a beacon of unity among Tamil scholars worldwide, striving to concentrate and enrich research efforts pertaining to the Tamil language. Initiated in 1964 by Reverend Xavier S. Thani Nayagam, the International Association of Tamil Research (IATR) decided to convene this global gathering biennially.

However, the eleventh iteration of this esteemed conference faced an unexpected dilemma last year. Initially slated for Singapore, it was regrettably diverted, resulting in two parallel conferences held in Chennai, India from July 7 to 9, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from July 21 to 23 of the same year.

In an effort to shed light on this issue, Kulasegaram Sanchayan engages in dialogue with Dr. Themozhi, Secretary of the Tamil Heritage Foundation and a distinguished researcher in Tamil language and culture, discussing the compelling Open Letter she authored on the matter.
