Australian political leaders wish Tamils for Tamil Heritage Month

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Federal Member for Parramatta Dr. Andrew Charlton have extended their heartfelt congratulations to the Tamil community in Australia in celebration of Pongal Festival and Tamil Heritage Month.

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Federal Member for Parramatta Dr. Andrew Charlton have extended their heartfelt congratulations to the Tamil community in Australia in celebration of Pongal Festival and Tamil Heritage Month.

In a statement released on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, The Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese states, “I am delighted to send warmest wishes to the Tamil Australian Community as you celebrate Thai Pongal and Tamil Heritage Month.” The opposition leader, Peter Dutton has also shared similar sentiments.


Dr Andrew Charlton proposed on November 18, 2024, in the Australian federal Parliament that January be designated as Tamil Heritage Month across Australia.
