The Department of Defence awarded the 'Australia Day Medallion' to Jasbir Singh Randhawa, who contributed to various defence objectives as a part of the Australian Hydrographic Office.
Working as Assistant Director of External Relations, Mr Randhawa, told SBS Punjabi, "This award recognises workers who have made significant contributions to the department's work."

"After high school, I received a scholarship from a British mining company to complete a land surveying diploma from which I graduated at the top of the class," Mr Randhawa said.
He also studied at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, from which he topped the class yet again.
The list goes on, as in 2012, Mr. Randhawa was granted a fellowship by the Australian Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute in recognition of his contributions to the hydrography profession.
"In 2013 and 2017, the Hydrographer of Australia presented me with a commendation," Mr Randhawa said.
This commendation recognised his work in fulfilling his role as Deputy Director of External Relations for over twenty years.
Jasbir Singh Randhawa received a commendation in 2013 and 2017.
"In 2023, Mr. Randhawa received the leadership award at the Australian Sikh Awards of Excellence.
