Actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh had almost rejected ‘Soorma’, a film based on the life of the iconic Indian hockey player Sandeep Singh.

The tornado of talent who has shown more faith in his instinct than any method acting shared that he was apprehensive about pulling off a sports-based film.
“Cast me in any film for free but don't cast me in a hockey-based film because it will require lot of hard work and I think I will not be able to pull this off”-Diljit Dosanjh told his producers.
But now that he has completed the film and is excited to share it with his fans, the actor says he feels that not doing the biopic would have been the biggest mistake of his career.

"You cast me in some romantic film but they were convinced with me and then again, when I went through the story of the film, I felt that it would have been the biggest mistake of my career if I wouldn't have worked in this film", said Mr Dosanjh.
The trailer of the film has received a thumping response from Diljit’s fans who find it very hard to believe in his apprehensions. They feel nobody could have pulled off the role better than their favourite star.
Whilst the actor’s look and proficiency in the trailer is receiving immense appreciation, Mr Dosanjh says the process of transformation wasn’t an easy one since he wasn’t too familiar with the game.

The actor underwent months of gruelling training sessions in the presence and guidance of legend Sandeep Singh himself to fit into the player's skin and form.

“They (Sandeep Singh and his elder brother) were monitoring the shoot and if there were any mistakes from my side then they quickly used to rectify that”, adds Mr Dosanjh.

Diljit, was, however, not the first choice for the lead role. The film was earlier offered to the feisty Ranveer Singh who turned it down due to date issues.

The movie is slated for a worldwide release on July 13th.
