A security guard at Adelaide Oval has become an internet sensation after he took a classic catch sitting across the boundary, during Wednesday’s encounter between Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat.
Sitting on a plastic chair facing the crowds, Vikas Chhikara had just turned towards the ground when Joe Burns sent the ball flying over the fence. Vikas caught the ball without having to move an inch.

His "cool as cucumber" reaction after the catch was equally priceless. Even as the crowds burst into applause, Vikas was totally nonchalant and just did a thumbs-up acknowledging the cheer, prompting the TV commentators to say “you are allowed to smile”.
He later appeared on Ten Network. He said he grew up playing cricket in India.
The vision of Vikas taking the catch was replayed on the Adelaide Oval’s big screens repeatedly to a strong applause by the crowds.
Mr Chhikara says he did not notice the first time that the crowds were cheering him.
“The second time I noticed like, yeah, they put me on there. I was stunned,” he said.
Vikas said he grew up playing cricket in India.
“I used to play. But then moved ten years back away from India, but I used to play even a couple of seasons out here on hard wickets,” he said.
