In the sickening moment captured on CCTV camera in Gold Coast in 2016, Jimmy Singh was left for dead after being hit by a car.
“It just turned his life upside down. He required a lot of assistance at home from family and friends,” said Sugath Wijedoru, Jimmy Singh’s lawyer.
reported that Jimmy Singh, who had been driving a cab for nine years, was standing next to his vehicle in Surfers Paradise last year, when a car suddenly swerved from the other side of the road and ploughed into him sending him flying into the air and head first into the ground. The driver of the car didn’t stop and was believed to have been driving an Uber.
Today, the man behind the wheel, Sukhwinder Singh, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving. A court heard that the pair knew each other and Gill had sought out Jimmy Singh’s location convincing him to meet to discuss his side of an ongoing dispute.Gill remained expressionless as the CCTV footage of the incident was shown in court. In sentencing, Judge McGinness said that his actions that day were unjustified and callus.

“It was a deliberate course of driving. It is clear you drove in his direction in anger”, Judge said.
“At the end of the day, whatever the argument was about or whatever the discussion was about, it would not have warrented this sort of action.” Said Singh’s lawyer Sugath Wijedoru.
Father of two, Sukhwinder Gill, was sentenced to three years behind bars suspended after one.
For Jimmy Singh, however, it’s still a long road to recovery.
“He’s happy to move on now that justice has been served,” said his lawyer.
