Bollywood stars Diljit Dosanjh and Kangana Ranaut were embroiled in a heated spat on the microblogging site over their views on the ongoing farmers' agitation in India's capital New Delhi against the Modi government's three agricultural bills.

The two began bickering on Twitter earlier this week after Kangana seemingly misidentified an elderly Sikh woman from the protest as Bilkis Bano - the octogenarian who became the face of the months-long anti-citizenship law protest in New Delhi's Shaheen Bagh locality. She further went on to allege that the woman had joined the protest for publicity and money.

The fight started when Diljit corrected Kangana on Twitter citing a BBC interview of the woman who the Queen actress had wrongly identified as Bilkis Bano. In his tweet, the singer wrote that the woman was actually 73-year-old Mahinder Kaur who stood up for the farmers.
The fight turned into a mudslinging fest after Kangana hit back at Diljit with a tweet implying that the singer was director-producer Karan Johar's 'pet' prompting equally fiery retorts from Dosanjh in pure Punjabi dialect, which left many members of Twitterati asking for translations.

Many Punjabi singers, including singers Mika Singh, Gippy Grewal, Ranjeet Bawa, Ammy Virk and B-town actress Swara Bhasker came out in support of the 36-year-old actor as their clash escalated.
Disappointed with Kangana, Mika Singh tweeted, “I used to have immense respect for @kanganaranaut, I even tweeted in support when her office was demolished. I now think I was wrong, Kangana being a woman you should show the old lady some respect. If you have any etiquette, then apologise. Shame on you… #farmers.”
While Kangana later deleted the tweet after the widespread backlash, she defended her stance in yet another tweet, this time by showing complete solidarity with the farmers.
