A household name in Punjab, Ammy Virk is the latest Pollywood artist to join the ranks of those making an appearance in Bollywood movies.
The talented singer-actor will be seen in the role of former Indian cricketer Balvinder Singh Sandhu in Kabir Khan’s upcoming directorial sports drama, ’83. The film also features Ranveer Singh who will be essaying the role of Kapil Dev in the much-awaited film.
Sharing the news on social media, the makers of the film announced Ammy’s association with the film.
"Punjabi star Ammy Virk is all set to play Balwinder Singh Sandhu, the man who changed the game in the '83 World Cup final,” makers of the movie announced on social media. Ammy who entered the Punjabi film industry as a singer is best known for his hit songs like Qismat and Zindabaad Yarrian and also for his memorable performances as an actor in films like Angrez and Nikka Zaildar.

The multi-talented star took to Twitter to share the good news while attributing his career progression to the utmost support and love he garners from his fans.
The film is based on India’s historic win at the 1983 Cricket World Cup. It is slated to hit the cinemas on March 10 next year and will be dubbed in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.
Over the last few years, a slew of Punjabi actors has made their way to Bollywood in the hope of better opportunities by creating a niche for themselves in a wider audience. Among the first few to foray into Bollywood was singer turned actor Diljit Dosanjh whose short yet impactful role in ‘Udta Punjab’ opposite Kareena Kapoor blazed a trail for many other fellow Punjabi actors.
