A Punjabi youth's life was tragically cut short in a fatal truck smash on Pyes Pa Rd, near Taumata Rd in Western Bay of Plenty at around 4am on 11 July.
Parminder Singh Jabbal, 27, of Ohauiti moved to New Zealand three years back from Ludhiana, Punjab.
Mr Jabbal was working as a health support worker near Tauranga, a harbourside city in New Zealand's North Island.
Mr Jabbal's friend Navneet Singh told The Indian Weekender that he was expecting his first child in two months' time.
Mr Jabbal was returning home from work at the time of the accident.
The accident was so horrendous that the middle portion of Mr Jabbal’s car was force ejected from the chassis. According to Police, the driver of the second vehicle was taken to Tauranga Hospital with minor injuries.

Mr Jabbal’s death has been referred to the Coroner.
Speaking to The Indian Weekender High Commissioner of India, Sanjiv Kohli said, “It is always heart-wrenching to see a young life snatched away from us. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends. The High Commission of India is rendering all possible assistance. We are also in contact with his family in India.”
