“Ain’t no need to save me, keep your horse in the stable. What position I like? Head of the table”-YouTube star Lilly Singh has indeed translated her own words into reality. She has told the world that she would settle for nothing less than the ‘head of the table’.

Best known for her vlogs, monologues and comic gigs, Ms Singh has scripted television history by becoming the first woman of Indian-origin, and in her own words "the first woman of colour" to host her own late night show on one of the big four US broadcast networks.

She dropped the news when she made an appearance on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon'.
Ms Singh will be an executive producer and the host of the half-hour talk show ‘A Little Late with Lilly Singh’ on NBC which is due to replace Carson Daly's ''Last Call' in September.

“Lilly is truly a star and we’re thrilled to welcome her to our NBC family," said NBC late-night Executive Vice-President Doug Vaughan.

With this feat, Ms Singh has penetrated into space largely dominated by men. The last time a woman had achieved this elusive spot was 30 years ago when Joan Rivers hosted ‘The Late Show’ on the Fox network.

"She is a multi-talented performer who will surely have a great rapport with not only all her guests but also with our devoted late-night audience. We can’t wait to get started,” added Mr Vaughan.

So who is Lilly Singh?

The 30-year-old global internet sensation was born to Indian parents in Ontario in Canada.

Ms Singh established her presence in 2010 when she started her YouTube channel and used the platform to draw attention to a variety of subjects including her Indian heritage, the experience of growing up with the immigrant tag, gender equations and friendship.

She releases her videos under the moniker ‘Superwoman’ and has over 14 million subscribers to her channel - which she describes as ‘comedy, inspiration and good vibes.’
In the recent past, Ms Singh has produced gigs featuring huge stars like The Rock, Seth Rogen, and her close friend Priyanka Chopra who recently took to Instagram to congratulate Lilly.

Alongside her YouTube career, Ms Singh has also appeared in several films including Bad Moms, Ice Age: Collision Course and HBO’s Fahrenheit 451.

The multi-talented performer has also authored the New York Times bestselling book, "How to Be a Bawse: A Guide To Conquering Life."

In her recent outing, Ms Singh overlaid iconic Bollywood tunes like 'Choli Ke Peeche' and 'Aankh Maare' with her own rap about real issues that affect Indian women.
In one of the rap videos, she taps on important issues like consent and acceptance of bisexuality. And she does it without losing the groove and with enough swag that has been largely well received by her fans in India and beyond.

She was recently spotted at the GQ Style Awards 2019 in India, swaying with none other than Bollywood star Ranveer Singh.
The duo set the stage on fire with their energies as they grooved on Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk in Mumbai.
