Acting upon Indian badminton star Saina Nehwal’s angry tweets for striking out her father Harvir Singh’s name off the team’s official list for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has finally resolved the issue.

Fearing controversy ahead of the big games, the IOA on Tuesday cleared Harvir Singh’s lodging in the Games Village, which means he can now stay in the Village and cheer his daughter in all her matches.

Confirming the clearance in a tweet, ace shuttler thanked the IOA for their support in the matter.
The Olympic bronze medallist and former world number 1 had earlier lashed out at the authorities for denying accommodation to her father in spite of her paying for it.

Replying to her irate tweets, the IOA, however, informed that payment for accreditation does not mean the extra-officials would be allowed to stay in the Games Village.
The 12-day international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth gets underway today at the Gold Coast.
