South Australia has announced exemptions from the English language and work experience requirements for a particular category of state nomination applicants.
Under the new scheme, high performing international graduates from public universities in South Australia, will be able to claim these exemptions, as well as 'financial requirement waiver'. High performing graduates from private universities or higher education providers in South Australia will be considered on a case by case basis (as not all private higher education providers use the same grading system).
Such applicants will also have access to a more extensive list of occupations on the or the .
However, applicants will still be required to meet the work experience and English language proficiency required for the skills assessment and registration.
To apply as a high performing graduate, an applicant must currently reside in South Australia. In addition, applicants must have completed one of the following qualifications at a South Australian public university in the last two years with the required Grade Point Average.
- Ph.D. or Masters by Research.
- GPA of 6.0 or above in a Masters by Coursework degree (following completion of a Bachelor degree in South Australia).
- First Class Honours in a dedicated Honours year (following completion of a Bachelor degree in South Australia).
- GPA of 6.0 or above in a Bachelor degree.
The three participating South Australian public universities are: Flinders University, University of Adelaide and University of South Australia.
Immigration SA offers state nomination to applicants under this category who meet state and federal government requirements for either a 190 or 489 General Skilled Migration visa.
Quotas apply to the high performing graduate category. Once this quota is reached, applications under this category may be closed or certain occupations may be unavailable for state nomination.
Applicants must meet the necessary requirements of general skilled migration to be eligible for this program.
