Five Indian women are on the list of Forbes magazine’s 100 most powerful women in the world.
Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra, ICICI bank's CEO Chanda Kochhar, HCL Enterprise's CEO Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Biocon MD Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and HT Media services’ chairperson Shobhana Bhartia are the ones to make it to the list.
While Priyanka Chopra at number 97 made her debut in the list, the other four- very well recognised businesswomen, have been featured on the list before.
Coming into the limelight in 2000 after winning the Miss World title, 35-year-old Ms Chopra is among the top Bollywood actresses, winning National Film Award and numerous Filmfare Awards.

She has worked with UNICEF and remained its Goodwill Ambassador for child rights twice.
55-year-old Chanda Kochhar is currently positioned at number 32, an improvement of 8 positions from last year.
She began her career in 1984 as a management trainee at the ICICI Bank and 25 years later becoming the MD and CEO of the same bank.
35-year-old Roshni Nadar Malhotra is at number 52 on the Forbes list. Mentored by her father, Shiv Nadar and founder of HCL, Ms Nadar Malhotra took charge of the family’s business empire and was elevated as the CEO of HCL Corporation. She started out as a television news producer at Sky News UK.

Biocon Limited’s MD Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw’s 71st position in an improvement of six places from last year. She was at the 77th position on the list last year.
After studying malting and brewing at the Federation University in Australia in 1974, Ms Majumdar-Shaw established Biocon in 1978, initially operating it in her rented house.

The 64-year-old is also on TIME magazine's 100 most influential people in the world and in Financial Times' top 50 women in business list.

She is also the chairperson of the prestigious Indian Institute of Management -Bangalore.
At number 91 is 62-year-old Shobhna Bhartia of HT Media- the group running the well-known newspaper Hindustan Times. Ms Bhartia also served in the upper house of India’s parliament from 2006 to 2012 after being nominated to the Rajya Sabha.
Daughter of well-known industrialist KK Birla, she inherited the Hindustan Times Group and became the first woman chief executive of a national newspaper.
