An Indian migrant, a young bus driver has died after being doused with a flammable liquid and set on fire at a bus stop in Brisbane.
The bus caught fire on Beaudesert Rd at Moorooka, Brisbane.
Police say the attack on the 29-year-old driver appears to be random and there's no suggestion it's terror-related.
A 48-year-old man is in custody in Brisbane in this relation.
Queensland Police Superintendent Jim Keogh said one of three people who boarded the bus on Beaudesert Road at about 9am tipped flammable liquid on the driver and then set him alight, and the other passengers are lucky to have escaped with minor injuries.
The bus, carrying six passengers, pulled into Moorvale Shopping Centre on Beaudesert Road to pick up three passengers.
"At that time one of the passengers entered onto the bus and poured a flammable liquid onto the driver and subsequently the driver was set alight and is now deceased," he said.
"The fire was substantial, he would have stood little chance.”
Queensland fire and emergency services had the fire under control at 9.19am and completely extinguished it a minute later.
