In a statement, Mr Albanese says that celebrating Dashain is a crucial way for the Nepali community to keep their traditions alive.

“No matter when your family story started in Australia, the rituals of an ancient festival are an important heirloom in a new country,” he added.
The Dashain blessings – passed by parents and grandparents to children and grandchildren – preserve culture and tradition.

Throughout Australia, many events are being organised for the annual festival, which the Prime Minister says is an opportunity to share culture with the wider community.

"From Launceston to Shepparton, and Perth to Sydney, Australia's Nepalese [Nepali] community shares the blessings of history and heritage with us all," he said.
Celebrating the victory of good over evil, Dashain is an opportunity to seek out the goodness in the world and welcome it into our lives.
