Lamichhane looked happy and relieved to be greeted at the Tullamarine airport by members of the Nepali community alongside his team manager at Melbourne Stars.
Speaking to SBS Nepali at the airport on 11 December 2018, Lamichhane said he looked forward to playing the T20 BBL cricket competition in Australia.
"I feel my dream that I saw when I was in Sydney a couple of years back is coming true," he added.Lamichhane is hoping a lot of Nepali fans will unite together to see him play at various venues around Australia during his time at the Stars.

"Please do come and encourage me. Bring along the Nepali flags and let's have some fun together."
Acknowledging his luck of playing in Australia, Lamichhane said his experience from playing around the globe is ultimately going to be beneficial for Nepal and Nepali sports.
"I will make it (this opportunity to play in BBL) count and I will try to learn as much as I can which ultimately will help the sport's development back home in Nepal," he said.
Sandeep looked very determined to make the most of his time here and said his arrival ten days before the start of the tournament is hopefully going to help him get accustomed to the wickets here.
Lamichhane said his rise in the international arena is a strong message to the world that Nepal is capable of producing global sporting stars.

Ganesh Adhikari, another member from the local Nepal community who was also at the airport to meet and greet the Nepali teenage sensation, was taken aback by the stardom of Lamichhane.
"I thought he was just a normal kid - now I have seen him in real, I understand why Sandeep is so popular - he's got an aura just like that of a star!" he quipped.
