Sydney-based Misaki Ito saw the devastation of the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 first-hand when she was at uni in Japan.

After visiting the disaster-stricken area, Misaki felt that she must tell what was happening to the people there and that made her start taking pictures of the affected area in Tohoku and people who survived the earthquake.

Misaki is also one of the volunteer staff for , a Japan Club of Sydney's charity arm which supports young people in the earthquake-affected area.

Misaki has just come back to Sydney after her recent trip to Tohoku.  She tells us how the visit was and how she started taking photos of the area.  Misaki also talks about the upcoming charity event in Sydney to commemorate the 8th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Her photos will be exhibited at the event.
