It's only 100 days until the Olympic Games finally begin in Tokyo.

The coronavirus pandemic caused the event to be delayed for 12 months, and 2021's event will be unlike any of its predecessors, but athletes can finally see a clear track ahead to Olympic glory.

But as the opening ceremony draws closer, Australian Olympic Committee CEO Matt Carroll notes the pressure on Tokyo organisers is also rising.

The fact 70 per cent of locals don't want the games to take place at all, according to a weekend survey, indicates just how big the challenge is.

Matt Carroll says Australia is aiming to send its athletes fully vaccinated despite ongoing roll-out delays.
