A boat made of marine plastic is sailing across the notoriously dangerous Bass Strait. The boat is on its way to raise awareness about marine litter,

On a mission to raise awareness about marine litter, Sam McLennan has made a boat made from marine plastic and items he found washed up on beaches around the Tasman Peninsula.

The mission is called 'Project Interrupt', and has seen the ship stop in towns along Tasmania's east coast, clean up shorelines, and talk to the public about litter.

Now stationed on Flinders Island off Tasmania's north coast, Sam is preparing to make the perilous voyage across Bass Strait.

While preparing for the crossing, he enlisted the help of John McGee who had spent most of his working life crossing Bass Strait with a shipping company.
