Indonesian woman is the 12th coronavirus victim in Victoria

A 50-year-old lady from Jakarta while visiting Australia has become the twelfth individual to test positive for coronavirus in Victoria.

The 50 years old lady flew from Jakarta to Perth on February 27 in a sound condition, however after two days, while remaining in Perth, started to show indications.


She then flew to Melbourne from Perth on Virgin Airlines flight VA682 on Monday, March 2 and four days later she went to see GP, who requested a COVID-19 test.  Following a progression of tests, she was confirmed positive on Saturday late evening .

While in Melbourne on Friday 6 March between 6pm and 7pm, she visited the Pho Hung Vuong 2 Vietnamese Restaurant in Richmond.
Any individual who was at the restaurant at that time is instructed to be aware of the symptoms of COVID-19 and should contact the Health Department on 1300 651 160 for guidance.

The lady is currently well and undergoing self-isolation while being cared by relatives at home.

The Department of Health and Human Services is trying to contact any individuals who were on flight VA682 and in the close proximity with the lady.  The Department will offer help and instruction to observe intently for signs and symptoms of sickness.  These people will need to self-isolate themselves for a period of 14 days.

Symptoms can range from mild illness to .

Some people will recover easily, and others may get very sick very quickly. People with coronavirus may experience:

  • fever
  • flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat and fatigue
  • shortness of breath
  • difficulty of breathing
