Hailing from the southern part of India, the pop-folk alternative rock band 'When Chai Met Toast' released their debut album, 'The Joy of Little Things,' in 2017. They are one of the most streamed English bands in India. In this podcast, the quartet shares some of their music and offers tips for aspiring members of new bands.

The band 'When Chai Met Toast' is one of the most popular rock bands in India. The band was invited to perform at Singapore Formula One Grand Prix 2022 and Expo 2020 Dubai.

Speaking with SBS Hindi, the Quartet told the idea behind the name for the band.

Over the years, their bond has thickened as they understand each other's strengths and weaknesses.

Ashwin Gopakumar and Achyut Jaigopal are the lead lyricists.

They don't necessarily plan penning a song, instead they write what they feel at that point in life.

"We write what we feel, and the emotions come through, whatever it is ... Inspiration can come from anywhere," Mr Gopakumar said.

The group writes in English and Hindi and often includes Tamil and Malayalam language verses in songs.

The band is said a be a genre pioneer for their groundbreaking music.

For budding musicians trying to collaborate and form a successful band, their advice is to have patience and work hard.

"I personally feel, if you do this together, you can break down any wall," Mr Gopakumar added.

The band 'When Chai Met Yoast' had toured the UK, Ireland, and the US, including iconic venues like London's The Garage and New York's Sultan Room.

They are touring Australia in early March with performances in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
