One of the most prominent faces in business in Victoria, Indian-Australian Rohini Kappadath, has been appointed the Chair of Multicultural Business Ministerial Council by the Victorian Government.
With more than half a million small businesses in Victoria, the Council was formed to provide an essential link to government to ensure multi-cultural business communities are heard.
Recipient of 2015 Telstra Business Women’s Award, Rohini, who is currently one of the Directors at Pitcher Partners, has been chosen to lead this council.
Rohini has become a name to reckon with in the business circuit in Australia and specifically in Victoria. A strong advocate of multiculturalism, Rohini’s expertise lies in cross-cultural knowledge and cross-border business.
Rohini has over 25 years of experience working with various businesses in Australia, South-East Asia, China, Japan, New Zealand and North America.
Earlier this year, Rohini featured in SBS’s First Day series where she shared her story of arriving in Australia and making her mark in a new country.
Rohini is a regular on television screens often sharing her perspective on Indian economy.
On her latest appointment, Rohini Kappadath said that the Council’s establishment would give Victorian businesses greater opportunity and access to global markets.
“Businesses established and built by migrants are the backbone of the Australian economy. Australian businesses are in the process of being transformed by globalisation, and the importance of working across countries and cultures has never been more profound,” she said in a press statement issued by Pitcher Partners.
The Council’s role will be to actively promote Victoria as a culturally diverse business centre, provide a forum for strategic business networking and support Victoria’s trade agenda in emerging markets.
