"The midwives thought she would be here earlier, but this cheeky little girl had other ideas!" the hospital posted on its Facebook page.
"It was not too hard because the midwives here are amazing. We are very lucky to give birth at Westmead Hospital," said mum Sai Sariga according to the Westmead Hospital.
In an interview with , the new parents who live in Mays Hill, a suburb of Sydney, NSW described their daughter as a 'bundle of joy'.
"It's what we had been waiting for these past nine months... our precious little bundle,” Mr Nandigama told 9News.

"Diva Malik is the first baby to be born in 2021 at King Edward Memorial Hospital. Congratulations to Richa (mum), Sachin (Dad) and big sister Dhvali," ABC Perth reported.
"They weren't expecting their grand arrival until next week, but baby Diva arrived at 12:02 am – the perfect way to start the New Year," the Facebook Post reads.
