Australian tennis star Astra Sharma has defeated 27th-ranked Ons Jabeaur in the final of theMUSC Health Women's Open (Charleston 250) to win her first WTA career singles title on Sunday.
The West Australian had a rough start and quickly lost the first set to Tunisian Jabeaur.
But 165th-ranked Sharma bounced back to win the match 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 in the MUSC Health Women’s Open final in South Carolina. The win has helped her rise to WTA ranking of 120.

"Still can't quite believe it," Ms Sharma tweeted on Monday morning.
"To come out of this with a win, it's really unexpected; it's amazing for me, I have no words. It hasn't really sunk in that I won; I'm so happy," Ms Sharma told the after the match.
This is the first time Singapore-born Sharma has beaten a top-30 player.
"This time, I was a lot more calm and just held my nerve really well. Especially with Ons playing such high-level tennis in the first, I thought I did well to just reset in the second and just keep making her come up with the same shots," Ms Sharma said.
Ms Sharma is the daughter of an Indian father and a Chinese mother. She was born in Singapore in 1995.
Her family moved to Australia in 2005 and settled in Perth, Western Australia.
Astra Sharma made her ITF debut in October 2011.
Ms Sharma qualified for the Australian Open and won her first-round match before losing in the second round in January 2019.
This year she made it to the second round of the French Open.
