Diwali, the festival of lights, celebrated by the vast Indian community in Australia is just round the corner.
One of India's major festivals will be celebrated across Indian households in Australia on October 19th.
And joining in, in the festivities are Australian MPs - Jodi McKay, the member for Strathfield and Julia Finn, the member for Granville who have taken up the challenge of having the best Diwali decor in their constituency.
In a Facebook video, Jodi McKay, is seen in her Parliament house office decorated in Diwali lights talking to her colleague Julia Finn about the Diwali festivities.
Finn quips her Diwali lights 'are lame' and says they need to be 'bigger, brighter, bolder and louder'.
"Are you saying you can do it better?," McKay asks to which Finn replies, "Ofcourse."
And that's where the epic challenge kicks off.
"So Granville can do better than Strathfield?" McKay questions and Finn quips, 'Yes'.
And that's how the Australian MPs kicked off Strathfield versus Granville Diwali challenge.The winner will get the opportunity to have dinner with Jodi McKay MP and Julia Finn MP at Parliament House.

Meanwhile, Sydney's Blacktown council too has organised . Council is giving away prizes for the best decorated properties across the city.

Sydney's arch nemesis, Melbourne too has thrown it's hat in the ring this Diwali.Victoria's Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Robin Scott, state member for Preston while wishing 'Happy Diwali' to people of Indian community, has asked people to decorate their houses this Diwali and show Sydney, who is the best.

"I understand a similar competition is being run in Sydney and we all know who is going to come out on top," he says in a video message.
