Nearly 450 Indian-Australians gathered at seven different venues across Perth to celebrate the fourth International Yoga Day. Hundreds more are expected to join from a cross-section of the society on 21st and 24th June 2018.
Indian Society of Western Australia (ISWA) runs regular yoga sessions throughout the year. One and a half hour session for eight weeks, approximately three to four times in a year. More than 75 people participated in an event organised by ISWA on Saturday. ISWA's past president Ramkrishna Bansal said to SBS Gujarati...
"We started free yoga classes in December 2014. A small group of 45 people from 14 to 75 years of age gathered at Willeton Park to perform the yoga."

Consulate General of India - Perth organised a Yoga session on 17th June at Government gardens with support from the Art of Living organisation, where more than 200 people enjoyed yoga for almost an hour and a half.The Hindu Council of Australia regularly organises free yoga classes at five different places in the city of Perth.

They perform regular yoga following principles of Ashtanga yoga. Yoga instructor Damji Koria said:
They are following the sequence of Yam, Niyam, Ahar, Pratyahara, Pranayama, Asana and Samadhi. In the sequence, participants have to follow Satya, Ahinsa (Truth and Non-Violence) and try to avoid any other unlawful act. Next week, people will confess the difficulty they faced in following the oath and how many times they broke the rule.
